Sernioritis News Story

Jake, Olivia and I filmed a short piece on senioritis as a lighter piece for the news. We did about eight interviews and cut them down into a minute 20 of video. We went more for comedy, taking the funniest part of each interview and using a little bit of B roll too. We also used subtitles to announce the peeps names, rather than waste time having them introduce themselves. The piece came out to be really funny and is a good piece for the news.

We started by putting a chair outside the library facing the building so we could have a nice backdrop for the shot with the mountains and the steeple. We had the people sit in the chair and then I placed the person in the left third line of the shot. Then Jake and Olivia would ask them one question. "Do you believe in Senioritis?" The answers varied by a lot and were all pretty funny when edited. We also had teachers answer the question, and I put their shots so they were facing the field and the background was the windows into the school, signifying that they had a different view on the issue.

When we had all the clips, it came out to about ten minutes of footage. I edited it down to just over a minuter by taking very short clips and layering them. I had to take the most funny and most related clips to the topic and splice them together. After we were done editing, we decided we needed more B roll and went out to film some more. We made it over, and it ended up very funny.
